About Us
A travel company rooted in Kisoro, built on purpose.
Established in Kisoro, Western Uganda, Virunga Massif Tours blends extraordinary adventure with a steadfast commitment to social impact. We specialise in gorilla tracking, wildlife expeditions, mountain hikes, and immersive local experiences across Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo.
Every trail we guide supports the communities along it — from school fees for vulnerable children in Kisoro to conservation projects protecting the forests we trek through. Responsible tourism isn't an add-on here; it's the route itself.

What We Offer
Ways to experience the Virunga Massif.

Gorilla Tracking
Trek the Virunga slopes of Mgahinga and the ancient forest of Bwindi Impenetrable, home to nearly half the world's mountain gorillas. Every permit booked supports the community initiatives that protect their future.

Wildlife & Primate Tours
Beyond the gorillas: golden monkeys, forest birds, and the layered ecosystems of the Virunga Massif. Responsible tourism that funds the conservation it depends on.

Mountain Hiking
Hike with purpose. Beyond the views, a portion of every hike supports local schools and community projects in the highlands you walk through.

Local Culture & Community
Visit our school for Batwa children in Kisoro, providing education, meals, and essentials for vulnerable kids. Every tour you take helps keep its doors open.

Multi-Country Tours
Cross borders without losing the thread. Tours spanning three countries, each contributing to cross-border community initiatives and a shared commitment to the region.

Signature Experience
Gorilla Trekking Safaris in Uganda & Rwanda
Embark on an unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure spanning Uganda and Rwanda. In Uganda, explore the dense, diverse Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and the unique Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, where you'll trek against the backdrop of the Virunga Volcanoes. In Rwanda, Volcanoes National Park offers a remarkable trekking experience with its accessibility and breathtaking volcanic scenery — with the option to add a golden monkey trek for an extra layer of primate exploration.
Our experienced guides secure gorilla permits on your behalf, so the only thing left to plan for is the trail ahead.
Conservation-first
We work alongside local communities on conservation efforts and eco-friendly practices, so your trip protects the places it visits.
Education & community
Proceeds from our hikes and tours support local schools and our Batwa children's school in Kisoro.
Tailored to you
Every itinerary can be shaped around your interests, time, and budget — adventure, culture, or impact, your call.
